Yambio man lynched over alleged coffee table theft

A young man was lynched for allegedly stealing a coffee table in Yambio over the weekend, the Gbudwe state police commissioner has said.

The 25-year-old man was severely beaten for hours after he was caught by angry Esiro residents. He passed away shortly after being taken to the police station.

“They started beating him from 3am till 9am. When police were tipped, they went and brought him to the police station [where he died],” Major-General James Monday narrates the incident to Eye Radio.

E. Richard had also been accused of stealing valuables from different homes.

He stated that some of the people involved in the beating are being held by the police.
