The mayor of Way town in Western Bahr al-Ghazal State has warned that dealers who sell fuel to traders on the streets could be arrested.

Wau town mayor Livio Bahara Gelego says selling the fuel to local traders in Jerri cans is a violation of state laws.

Mr Livio says owners of fuel stations have also raised the cost of a littler of fuel from 13 to 15 pounds.

He also warned that traders should reverse the decision to increase the price of fuel at the pump, adding that security personnel are on alert to arrest managers who refuse to lower the prices.

But traders have more than doubled the price of a litter of fuel which they sell in bottles along the roadsides.

Mr Livio said those selling the fuel in bottles along the roadsides also face arrest. He issued the directives today in Wau town.
