Some schools sent children back to their homes in Wau town today after a sporadic shooting in the town last night.

Governor Elias Waya says three people were killed: two were immediately shot dead while a captain was gunned down this morning while inspecting bodies of the fallen people.

Mr Elias says a wildlife officer shot Capt Gabriel Kuch to death after a disagreement about disarming a man in plain clothes.

School teachers say they were sending children to their parents because of these incidents.

However, only upper classes will continue to attend classes.

“The lower classes may be scared by the sound of gunshots; that is why we allowed them to go home,” said Peter Sawuat, a head teacher of a primary school in the town.

“We are going home now because of gunshots; we’re in fear,” said Yar Madok, a pupil of Holy Family School.
