Vice President James Wani Igga has formed a committee to prepare for the reception of the advance team of the SPLM- in Opposition, despite confusion over the exact date of their arrival.

The administrative order issued last evening forms the Preparatory and Reception committee.

This morning, the government’s spokesperson, Michael Makuei Lueth told Eye Radio that both parties are yet to agree on the exact date for the return of Dr. Riek Machar’s officials.

He said the government wants only 30 people from the list of 609 members presented by the SPLM-IO.

The spokesperson for Dr. Riek Machar, James Gatdet -on his part -yesterday said that IGAD had approved 262 people to be sent to Juba.

But Mr. Makuei said the SPL-IO delegates will not come unless both sides agree first on the number.

Despite this uncertainty over the number and the return date of the SPLM-IO advance team to the country, VP James Wani established a committee headed by the Minister of Finance, David Deng Athorbei.

The committee members include, among others, the chairman of the SPLM Youth League, Akol Paul Khordit and Honorable James Kok Ruei from the National Legislative Assembly.

Hon. Kok said that the terms of reference of the committee are not yet clear.

‘‘We just heard from the national TV the formation of the committee. We have not yet sat down to look into the details of the job that we are going to do,” he said.

Hon. Kok said the committee may meet on Monday next week to discuss the details of their assignment.

The order, as read on the State TV, indicated that the committee will receive the group and find accommodation for the delegates.

The committee will also coordinate the provision of security and protection for SPLM-IO team upon their return.
