The Vice President is urging the international community to intervene in the Implementation of the nine Cooperation Agreements-ICA South Sudan signed with Sudan 18 months ago.

James Wani Igga met Sudanese President Omar al Bashir over the weekend, to discuss pending issues to do with the cooperation agreement that include Abyei, the border and trade between the two countries.

“We have a disagreement about the zero line where exactly the border should be drawn”, the Vice President told reporters.

James Wani Igga told journalists that there is still tension at the border which requires the intervention of international bodies.

“They have a different map from what we have. So this is the cause of the delay, so I wish we will all go to the map of 1956 and see the reality from there, as it was drawn not by us, not by the government of South Sudan, but by the British themselves who colonized this country. So, that is the point where we are stuck, but I think eventually through convincing, and going to facts and scientific realities, we will be able to overcome that bottom line” Igga said.

South Sudan signed the Implementation of Cooperation Agreement-ICA, in September 2012 to solve border differences, and ease trade between the two countries.
