Gambella: UNCHR suspends relocation of SS refugees due to rains

The relocation of South Sudanese refugees in Ethiopian region of Gambella has been suspended until the end of the rainy season.

About 20,000 refugees in Gambella will be relocated to a safer place once the rains stop.

As of 26th of last month, nearly 190,000 refugees from South Sudan arrived in Ethiopia, According to a report by the UN Refugee Agency.

The UNHCR says so far more than 150,000 refugees have been relocated into camps in Gambella, while the remaining numbers will be relocated during dry season.

The agency says about 100 people arrive in Ethiopia from South Sudan on daily basis.

They are escaping the fighting in the areas affected by the conflict.
