The government has appealed for $1.9 billion from China to boost development in the country.

During the China-Africa summit meeting in South Africa last year, China pledged $60 billion US dollars in development assistance to Africa.

The money was meant to be given in three phases, after the African countries propose their projects and priorities in different sectors.

It will also be given in form of grants and loans.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deng Alor, said that South Sudan had proposed its list of priories to the Chinese government.

He said the money will be used to boost education, health, infrastructure, and among other sectors.

Mr Alor said they are waiting for response from the Chinese government.
