SPLM factions have resumed party reunification meetings, the SPLM Secretary of Information has said.

The factions are: the SPLM in Juba, the SPLM in Opposition under Dr. Riek, the IO under Taban, and the Former Political Detainees.

The ruling party witnessed split after the outbreak of violence in Juba in 2013.

Lam Both told Eye Radio Thursday that the factions are meeting today in Kampala under the mediation of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to continue talks over the reunification of the party.

They met last month in Kampala, but the meeting was adjourned due to the absence of members from Dr. Riek Machar’s faction.

“The President of Uganda wrote to him that he can attend or at least send some representatives,” Mr Both said.

However, he said they “don’t know” if the representatives are in attendance now.

The party factions are meeting in Kampala to work on a roadmap for implementing the January 2015 Arusha deal on the reunification of the party.
