SPLMs agree to revitalize Arusha deal implementation

The SPLM in the government and the Former Detainees have established a team to revitalize and operationalize the implementation of the SPLM Arusha Agreement.

This was reached at in a meeting of the three factions of the ruling party held on Thursday in Kampala, Uganda, on request by President Yoweri Museveni.

The three groups included SPLM in the government, Former Detainees and SPLM-IO under the leadership of the First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai.

These groups have signed what they call Entebbe Declaration on the Operationalization of the Arusha Agreement on the Reunification of the SPLM.

According to the Declaration, the working group will develop a matrix for the implementation of the Arusha agreement with specific timelines and report to President Yoweri Museveni within one week.

The working group comprises three members of each faction, with Simon Kun Puoch, Rebecca Joshua Okwaci, and Oliver Mori Benjamin representing SPLM IG.

The representatives of the Former Detainees are: John Luk Jok, Kosti Manibe, and Majak D’Agoot .

While members of SPLM IO of Taban Deng include: Richard Mulla, Tijwog Agwet, and Lubna Abdelgani.

They signed the declaration at statehouse in Entebbe, under the auspices of President Museveni.

Jemma Nunu Kumba, acting secretary-general of SPLM, signed on behalf of the government; Dr Dhieu Mathok, secretary- general, signed on behalf of SPLM-IO of Taban; and Deng Alor Kuol signed for Former Detainees.

For his part, President Museveni signed the declaration as guarantor.
