An SPLA soldier who shot dead his colleague yesterday after the army’s administration in Mundri took disciplinary action against him has been killed in a gun battle.

The soldier, identified as Tong Manyiel, had allegedly insulted one of his seniors.

This forced the administration to discipline him by corporal punishment, after which he turned violent, and went on a shooting, and injuring one, beside the deceased.

“He ran away and was following and till yesterday around at 1 o’clock he appeared in Mori Bridge, so the soldiers quickly organized themselves and followed him,” said Victor Mabruk Clement, the Amadi state minister of information.

“…there was gun shout between him the soldiers and eventually he was killed and the body was buried.

Mr. Mubruk says the situation is now calm in the area.
