S. African president calls on S. Sudan to adhere to Khartoum agreement

The president of South Africa has encouraged all the parties to adhere to the provisions of the peace agreement.

The parties signed the agreement on power sharing on Sunday.

President Salva Kiir signed on behalf of the government; while Dr. Riek Machar, on behalf of the SPLM in Opposition.

In a statement, Cyril Ramaposa also called on them to contribute towards the creation of a conducive environment for sustainable peace, security and development in South Sudan.

“President Ramaphosa encourages all the parties to adhere to the stipulations of all Agreements and contribute towards the creation of a conducive environment for sustainable peace, security and development in South Sudan,” the statement read.

He also expressed his commitment to working closely with all the key stakeholders in the peace process in the country.

Mr Ramaphosa heads the African Union High Level Ad Hoc Committee for South Sudan.
