A UN plane has crashed at Malakal airport, the Minister of Information in Upper Nile State has said.

“We are now talking with people….they are saying there were four people on board. they all survived,” Mr Akech confirmed to Eye Radio.

The four survivors have been rushed to a hospital in the area, Challis McDonough, WFP senior regional communications specialist, has confirmed to Eye Radio.

The plane WFP-chartered plane crashed shortly after takeoff.

“It’s too soon to know what happened to the aircraft,” Ms McDonough said.

This occurs six days after a cargo plane crashed near Juba International Airport, killing 41 passengers.

Eye Radio contacted the CEO of Civil Aviation Authority, Stephen Warikozi; however, he said: “I don’t have any information” about the crash “but I’m in communication with Malakal’.
