Organised forces to monitor fuel distribution at refilling stations

The Undersecretary in the Ministry of Petroleum is urging security forces to monitor petrol stations to ensure fuel distribution reach the citizens.

Over the weekend, the Ministry of Petroleum distributed fuel to nine petrol stations through Nile Pet Oil Company after some stations had closed down.

The undersecretary Machar Acek Ader told Eye Radio sundown that shortage of fuel is being caused by black market, and delay of clearance at the border.

“You might have seen that there are others who have taken it up on themselves to trade along the roads, and that is the problem which has to be solved by other security agencies. So if such services stations are visited and asked where they have put the quantity, (fuel) which have been delivered to them, it is them to answer where they have delivered them (the missing quantity of the availed fuel).” Ader said.

Machar said clearance of basic commodities such as fuel should be shifted to Juba to avoid shortages.

“The clearance agencies, they have their own difference interests, which do not coincide with the interest of the nation. They are more interested in their pockets than services delivery for this country, because fuel as you have just seen it is basic commodities and cannot be subjected to profit motive. So the problem of clearance at Nimule is a real problem which must be dealt with if we are to solve the problem of fuel in this country…. the petroleum product they can be cleared in Juba hear by the South Sudan custom authority. There is no reason why obstacle can be set up in Nimule or in Nesitu or anywhere on the way.”

Last week the Ministry of Interior ban over 160 clearance agencies at Nimule border.
