Officials question Juba City Council proposed budget

Author : | Published: Wednesday, August 12, 2015

The Administration of Juba City Council has presented to its legislative council a budget of more than 70 million pounds for the financial year 2015-2016.

This is 10 million higher than that of last year.

But this year, much of the budget is allocated to capital and operation costs, each at more than 30%. Only less than 4% goes to salaries.

“We as the legislative organ are going to read this budget item by item to find out where this increment comes,” said Michael Lodu, Chairperson.

“If the 25% increment can affect some sections that have direct relations with the development of our people and the delivery of services and can affect the prices in the market, we as legislature can make cancelation.”

The Advisor for Local Government in the City Council, Wani Tongun, advised the councilors to approve the budget after proper discussions and supervise its implementation.
