The National Reconciliation and Healing Conference will take place in 2016, according to the chairperson of the reconciliation committee.

Archbishop Daniel Deng says more reorganization and establishment of the committee is needed.

Speaking to the press, Archbishop Deng said broad consultations will take place between now and 2016:

“The first stage will end with a national reconciliation conference in 2016 preceded by conference at county and state level.

“That conference will signal the beginning of the second stage to propose a national healing and reconciliation agenda and to invite all stakeholders, both individuals and institutions to situate themselves within it.”

Archbishop Deng said the committee has secured more than one million US dollars from donors.

He appealed for continued support from donors to enable the National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee fulfills its mission.

Five hundred and fifty peace mobilizers have been trained to carryout awareness about the healing process in the states.
