Maban ‘relatively stable’

Situation in Maban County in Upper Nile State is ‘relatively stable’ after an aerial attack officials blamed on the Sudan on Thursday, the SPLA spokesperson has said.

More than six people were wounded in the attack.

Col Philip Aguer says the civilians are however scared and are moving away from the border areas.

“The situation is relatively stable now but the villagers are scared and they are getting displaced,” Col Aguer said.

“People are moving away from these border areas and that means displacement has already created itself in the region of Upper Nile.”

In another development, Col Aguer said there were clashes in an area near Bentiu on Wednesday between the government and the SPLM in Opposition forces.

The SPLA in Opposition could not confirm the fighting. However, Col Philip Aguer said calm was restored and planes were able to land safely in Bentiu.
