The Minister of Information in Lol says a former state minister accused of a corruption scandal involving sale of government property and loss of money is being transferred from Juba to the state for further investigation.

Omar Ishak says the former minister of local government and law enforcement, Amanoon Aleu Jok, allegedly sold three government cars, including an ambulance, and took 800,000 pounds.

Mr Omar says the state MPs have not been paid since November last year due to the alleged loss of the money to Mr Aleu.

He told Eye Radio that Mr Aleu was arrested last week, but refused to be investigated in Juba, and is on Monday being transferred to Lol so that investigation can begin immediately.

“He will be taken from here to Awiel and then to Nyamlel so that people can know the truth,” said Omar.

Manoon Aleu could not be reached comment on his arrest and the corruption allegations.
