Two Lakes state lawmakers who were arrested last year have been released.

They include Marik Nanga, who represents Constituency Number 2, Rumbek North, and Isaac Makur, who represents Rumbek East.

The two MPs were arrested by the state government for allegedly declining to campaign for disarmament in the state.

“They were detained in an unknown place in Yirol East. And it is not a recognized prison,” according to Hon Ater Jeremiah, Member of Parliament representing Yirol West.

The two were released on Sunday without charges.

“No charges completely; they were just released without any investigations,” Hon Jeremiah added.
