Author : | Published: Wednesday, March 25, 2015

The Chairman of Peace and Reconciliation Committee, Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul, says the situation has calmed in all the counties in Lakes State.

15 people died in a communal fighting in the northern part of the state last week.

Archbishop Deng led a peace campaign in the state.

“There is calm now in the all Lakes State and it not a simple one but it needs a lot of work to be done,” Archbishop Deng  said.

“We are now working together to make sure  that Rumbek, Lakes State becomes calm again.”

He says his committee has named 50 members to continue with reconcillitation efforts.

Lakes state’s fragile security situation is often attributed to cattle rustling, revenge attacks and killings.

Last year, the national parliament reported that over 500 people killed in related circumstances between January and October 2014.
