South Sudan may further delay implementing an agreement of establishing one area network with neighboring countries, the Undersecretary in the Ministry of Telecommunications has said.

The Northern corridor Countries had signed an agreement to establish one regional network that will see cost of making calls drop by 60%.

A deadline of 31st December was given to all the countries involved.

Stephen Lugga says South Sudan is finding solutions to obstacles that prevented it from reaching the deadline.

“Actually, we are in contact with authorities in Uganda and maybe we will have a visit,” he said.

“The ministry and also our regulator go and see the regulator and ministry concerned in Uganda so that we try to iron out this and see how far the legislature there can be removed so that our team; our companies here can go through to implement the one network area.”

Two mobile subscribers in Kenya and Rwanda have already formed a one area network to enable people call at reduced costs between the two countries.
