Jonglei: Aguer postpones swearing in of Mayen & Yath

The Governor of Jonglei State has suspended the swearing in of two ministers who have been disowned by their communities.

Members of Duk County on Monday said the ministers were not part of a proposed list they presented to the governor, Philip Aguer Panyang.

They include the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mayen Ngor Atem and Minister of Information, Yath Awan.

Only three out of the five ministers appointed last week by the governor were sworn in today.

“They are discussing this complaint,” said Governor Aguer. “The two ministers are outside but they will join.”

Governor Aguer said he would organize another swearing-in ceremony once the community decides on their leaders.
