The Office of the President says the transitional government of national unity may be formed this afternoon.

The SPLM in Opposition told Eye Radio yesterday that their leader was still making consultations on his nominees.

“We expect the current government to be dissolved,” said Presidential press secretary Ateny Wek Ateny.

“That means if the first vice president submits his list before 12 o’clock, the decree will be issued, dissolving the government and the formation of the [transitional] government will also be automatic so that the government is sworn in by early Friday before the first meeting of the cabinet of the transitional unity government that is to sit on Friday.”

All the stakeholders to the agreement have agreed that the current government will retain 16 ministries while the SPLM in Opposition will take 10.

The remaining four ministries will be taken by the former detainees and the other political parties.
