The government chief negotiator, Nhial Deng Nhial, is returning to Juba for consultations on the progress of peace talks in Addis Ababa.

The Minister of Information, Michael Makuei Lueth, says the talks have been postponed due to the visit of a UN Security Council delegation to Juba.

Mr. Nhial returns to Juba today to brief the president on the progress of the talks before the UN delegation arrives tomorrow.

“He is going to Juba today, because IGAD meeting which is supposed to be tomorrow have been postponed and what is coming first is the visit of security council on 12 of August 2014, that is why Nhial must go to Juba to brief the President on the development on the peace talk and our position today, because when the delegation from security council arrive in Juba they should know what is happening,” Mr Makuei told the media.

He reiterated that the government is committed to bring peace to South Sudan.

The talks resumed on Monday with participation of civil society, religious groups, former political detainees and other political parties.
