The commissioner of Aweil South County has banned the sale and consumption of strong alcoholic drinks which are believed to have left two people blind. The prohibited drinks include a whisky brand and another one popularly known as Knockout. Hon. Jel Mangok Yel warned of stiff penalties against those found flouting the ban. He said heavy consumption of strong alcoholic drinks is to blame for an increase in fighting and alcohol addiction amongst  men and women. Jel called upon the entire community to understand his reasons for banning the strong drinks which he said are a danger to human lives.
