The state administration of Buma Payam has been placed under the office of the governor of Jonglei.

Earlier this month, Governor Kuol Manyang told Eye Radio that he would move local administration to Buma to encourage civilians return to Pibor.

Governor Kuol had said the move would improve service delivery.

This week, governor Kuol decided to place the administration of the area under his office, and plans to relocate to Buma town for easy supervision.

“The move will allow the governor to monitor and concentrate on population resettlement after the displacement caused by the militia,” the state deputy governor, Maar Nyuot told Eye Radio today.

“When there is a crisis like this, the governor is the chief administrator, the chief of the state; so, he wants to oversee that the people of Buma are given humanitarian services,” he added.

Mister Maar also said the governor has established an administrative body to oversee Jonglei state affairs.

It is chaired by his advisor, Korok Alongole.
