“Frustrated” E Lakes teachers asked to be patient

Author : | Published: Friday, November 25, 2016

The Governor of Eastern Lakes State has called for patience among teachers, saying his state government will raise their salaries.

Reports from the national Ministry of Education say some teachers have been leaving the profession due to low pay.

In Eastern Lakes, Mr Rin says some teachers still get as low as 300 pounds in monthly salaries despite the devaluation of the pound.

“Maybe teachers are frustrated with this low payment or zero payment, but I encourage them to continue sacrificing their services,” Rin Tueny told Eye Radio.

He said teachers should continue teaching the pupils normally as the state works to raise their pay.

The governor added: “We’re going to improve the salary structures of our teachers, of our employees in the government. Please bear with us.”
