Displaced Lainya residents return home

Author : | Published: Tuesday, September 13, 2016

The Bishop of the ECS diocese of Lainya in Yei River State says some of the people displaced by fighting in the area in recent months have started returning to their homes.

In July, local armed groups clashed with the SPLA. Some civilians were killed and many displaced.

Bishop Elioba Laku told Eye Radio that some are now returning, but they face a serious humanitarian situation.

“Some of them are now coming back but the situation is very bad as the prices of commodities are very high,” he said.

Bishop Laku urged the national government to intervene in supporting the returnees.
