Author : | Published: Tuesday, March 8, 2016

Journalist Afandy Joseph, who disappeared Friday has been found dumped near a graveyard in Juba.

His family had told Eye Radio that his whereabouts was not known.

Eyewitnesses said he was kidnaped by men riding in a numberless white land cruiser hardtop, with tinted windows.

One of his colleagues, Ibrahim Awuol says Mr Afandy phoned him and informed him where he was dumped.

He said they found he was tortured before being thrown near the graveyard.

“We found him in a bad condition – beaten, and burned in his legs,” Awuol told Eye Radio.

Mr Awuol says Afandy is now receiving treatment at a hospital in the capital.

Joseph was arrested in December last year after he wrote an article criticizing the ruling party SPLM in el-Thabeer Arabic newspaper which was closed down by security organs.

He was later released by security apparatus after two months of detention.

In February, another journalist was found dumped in Rock city after he was beaten, tortured and burned.
