Central Equatoria

The Central Equatoria State government says its civil servants have not received their salaries for December due to a delay of grants from the national government.

Information Minister Suba Samuel says three quarters of the salaries are paid using money from the national government.

Suba says the salaries will be paid soon.

“We didn’t receive our December salary but probably within these days, it will be out. The national government has to send us what they call grant and then the state has to top up. So if this grant is not sent then it will be very difficult.” He said.

Civil servants in the state have been complaining that they could not afford some basic needs for their families due to the salary delay.
