Budi: NGOs suspend operations over insecurity

Author : | Published: Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Some non-government organizations are suspending operations in Namuryang’s Budi County after an attack in the area over the weekend, the state minister of information has said.

Gunmen killed at least two people and wounded others on Saturday. Some cattle were also raided, causing some NGOs to suspend work.

“It’s true, but they did not close down their operations completely, they are just scared by insecurity,” Josephine Nakuru confirmed to Eye Radio.

She said a team led by the Deputy Governor has been sent to the country to assess the security situation.

The assessment team will return from Budi on Tuesday to update the cabinet on any developments.

Several humanitarian groups are operating in the area, including PSI.
