Budi markets run out of food items

Author : | Published: Monday, July 13, 2015

The Commissioner of Budi County in Eastern Equatoria State says hundreds of people are facing hunger in the area.

Felix Makuja says there are no enough food items in the market.

He told Eye Radio that the local people are now surviving on green leaves from the forests.

He blames the hunger on drought that affected crops and calls on the humanitarian agencies to assist.

“The seriousness is that there is no food for sale anywhere,” Mr Makuja appealed. “Because the drought is also continuing, I’m requesting well-wishers to assist the people.”

Mr Makuja also urged his people to start planting drought resistant crops to avoid a similar situation in future.
