Arch Bishop Daniel Deng Bul to retire early next year

The Arch Bishop of the Episcopal Church of Sudan and South Sudan, Daniel Deng Bul, has announced his retirement early next year.

In a statement, the archbishop has served ten years as required by the ECS’ constitutions.

The Bishop of Yirol diocese Simon Adut says Arch Bishop Daniel Deng Bul will be remembered for initiating peace and unity among Christians in the country.

He says archbishop’s office is now inviting applications from interested and qualified candidates to apply.

Bishop Adut called on all Christians to pray for successful elections and handover of the office next year.

“Aligned internal Arch Bishop and Chairperson of Central Clusters are required to announce this date of retirement to the diocese to their respective internal provinces and central clusters for information to all Arch Bishops of the internal province and clergy and laities under their authority. And also he requires prayers for the electoral commission as it prepares the plan for the 5th Arch Bishop and Primate by a provincial electoral college that will on the 20th of January 2018 in Juba,” Bishop Adut said.

The requirements for eligible candidates include ten years as bishop in ECS and having obtained Masters’ degree in Theology in recognized university.
