Amend Conduct of Business Regulations – Adigo

Author : | Published: Tuesday, September 20, 2016

An opposition leader in the Transitional Legislative Assembly has called for amendment of the Conduct of Business Regulations before dissolving the post of the Leader of Minority.

Last week, the chairperson of the Information Committee, Hon Oliver Mori, said there would be three chief whips; one from the ruling SPLM, another from the SPLM in Opposition and the third from the other political parties.

Hon Mori said the peace agreement does not provide for the position of the Leader of Minority.

“I think they do not understand the agreement; the agreement doesn’t talk of whips. The agreement talks of stakeholders,” Hon Adigo said during a press conference at the parliament building this morning.

Hon Adigo, who held the position from 2010-2016, says the peace agreement also requires the dissolution of the assembly leadership.

“After the amendment of this, the leadership of the assembly will be dissolved so that we work according to the constitution,” he added.

The Chief Whip of the other political parties has already been named.

But Mr Onyoti says the positions of the whips are not in the peace agreement.
