Eight people were killed Wednesday in an attack on Jalle payam in Bor County of Jonglei state, an official has said.

The state minister of information says identified criminals raided a cattle camp and also abducted two children.

Akech Deng says the attackers were from a neighboring state. He said five others were wounded in the incident.

“All the activities of the community have now been disrupted,” Mr Deng told Eye Radio. “So the state government is looking into all these things….to make sure that the security is number one for the people and particularly the civilians.”

Mr Deng added that the state authorities have urged the youth not to retaliate, as the government tries to address the matter.

A similar incident occurred in the area recently. Earlier this month, a group of suspected criminals attacked Jalle area, killing two women, and abducting two children.
