The Commissioner of Chueibet County in Lakes State says five people were killed yesterday after a cattle raid in Pagoor Payam.

Mayom Malek says the men were shot dead after youth pursue the raiders to try to recover the stolen cattle.

He said the dead include two from the attackers.

“They came and raided some cattle in Chueibet County. The cattle belong to Pagoor Payam. Therefore, the youth who are the cattle owners ran after them until they reached at the border there. This is where they clashed.”

Mr Mayom says the youth recovered the cattle.

He says the youth are suspected to have been from Rumbek Center.

Authorities in Rumbek Center are yet to comment.
