Amadi calm after recent fighting

The Minister of Information in Amadi State says it is now calm in Mundri, after a clash between the SPLA and youth suspected to be loyal to insurgent Wisley Welebe.

Victor Maburuk says the youth have been attacking the town over the past one week; the last clash was three days ago. No casualties were reported.

“Now the situation is calm the security is normal in the town and people have come back,” he told Eye Radio.

Mr Maburuk says it is now time for humanitarian agencies to intervene and provide assistance to the displaced.

“We need an emergency humanitarian assistance to those who were displaced into churches,” Mr Maburuk added.
