20 killed in Eastern Lakes cattle raid

At least 20 people have been killed and several others wounded in Yirol North County, Eastern Lakes

Security Advisor has told Eye Radio.

Eli Agok Ater says gunmen attacked a camp on Tuesday in Pagara village, at the border with the former Unity State, and took some cattle.

Mr. Eli says the identity of the attackers has not been established and security personnel are investigating the incident.

“The attackers are up to now not known, but the security is following the footprints of cows heading to former Unity state,” he stated.

Some of the injured, Mr. Agok went on, were taken to Yirol state hospital for treatment.

“Enemies of peace”

“As the government, we are condemning this act from enemies of peace. We need to embrace peace,” he said.

He added that the government has ordered the deployment of military forces to protect civilians.
