The Commissioner of Oponi County in Jubek State says two national security officers have been shot dead by suspected criminals along the Juba-Nimule road.

Hillary Roberto says the officers were on a patrol on the highway when their vehicles fell into an ambush in Jebellein.

He told Eye Radio that the incident initially resulted in panic among the people in the area, causing some of them to flee.

“Now the situation is normal and the cars are moving,” Mr Roberto said.

Mr Roberto said there are a lot of criminal groups along Juba-Nimule road.

On Tuesday, gunmen shot at a passenger bus at Loa, wounding the driver. Officials say the identity of the attackers was not established.
