UN:11 cholera cases reported in Juba today

The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says 11 new cases of cholera have been reported in Juba today.

This is one of the highest number of cases reported in a single day in the last one month.

In a report, the UNOCHA says so far more than 1,700 cases of the epidemic, and 46 deaths have been recorded in South Sudan.

It says Juba was affected most with more than 1500 reported cases and deaths.

The UNOCHA says Bor, Jonlgie state, was the second to Juba with 136 cases reported within the county.

Cholera is caused by drinking or eating contaminated food or water.

It can be prevented through proper hygiene and sanitation.
